- You can use a paper form at the airport, but online is faster and more reliable.

Money and Payment
Top Tip: Do not bring dollars, euros, or rubles. Only cash Yuan or digital payments.
Digital Wallets
Do this BEFORE your trip:
- Complete verification in Alipay and/or WeChat Pay.
- Link an international (non-Russian) card.
- Top up your account in advance.
Card Payments
- Russian cards: Do not rely on them (even UnionPay from RSHB/ATB).
- International cards: Only via Alipay/WeChat. Direct card payment is almost never accepted.
How to avoid losing money (Common mistakes)
- Do not exchange currency at airports.
- Do not bring dollars — bring only Yuan.
- Do not top up Alipay via Russian banks.
- Do not use UnionPay/Nihao China to top up WeChat (direct payment only).
- Do not buy a phone in China.
Communication, Navigation, and Language
Transportation
- Taxi: Online only via Didi (available inside Alipay/WeChat).
- Navigation: Amap or Apple Maps.
Translation
- Download offline packs (Simplified Chinese, English, Russian) in Google Translate.
- AI translation apps are very helpful.
Internet
- Be sure to install a working VPN in advance.
- It is necessary for local SIM cards or Wi-Fi.
Lifehack: trip.com for "Mir" cards
To ensure payment goes through correctly, select "Rubles" as the currency and English as the interface language.
